Nurturing Your Inner Child

To nurture your inner child is to return to the softest parts of yourself, the wonder, the play, the dreams that never stopped belonging to you.

There is a child within you who has never left. A little dreamer who once saw the world as wide, magical, and safe. That child still lives inside your heart, waiting for you to listen, to care, and to make space for joy.

So often, as we grow, we forget the softness we once carried with ease. We are told to be strong, to be serious, to “grow up.” And yet, in the quiet moments, we may still feel that longing, the one that whispers: don’t forget me.

Nurturing your inner child is not about going backward; it’s about remembering. It’s about honoring the parts of you that laughed without hesitation, that believed in dreams without apology, that found beauty in the simplest of things.

Here are a few gentle ways to begin:

  • Play. Allow yourself to do something simply for fun, like dancing in your living room, painting without worrying about perfection, or revisiting an old hobby that made you light up.

  • Rest. Children know when they are tired; they don’t shame themselves for needing naps or slow days. Give yourself that same permission.

  • Speak Kindly. Notice your self-talk. Would you say those words to a child you love? Replace judgment with compassion.

  • Dream Freely. Write down your wildest “what ifs” without editing them. Your inner child is a believer, not a skeptic.

  • Create Rituals of Care. Small acts like blowing bubbles, coloring, journaling, or stargazing can remind you of your childlike wonder.

The more you nurture your inner child, the more whole you become. Because healing isn’t only about mending wounds, it’s about returning to the joy that was always yours.

So, sit with your little self. Ask them what they need. Let them remind you of who you were before the world told you who you should be. There, you will find a well of softness and strength waiting to be embraced.

Always Dreaming,
